Depraved Sex Acts
The report said the trio “were busy filming three Thai girls committing depraved sex acts with them in a hotel room” while on the club “tour to promote goodwill in the homeland of its proud Thai billionaire owners.”
Vichai and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha have invested millions into the club since taking over five years ago. When announcing the players’ sacking, a statement said the club “is acutely aware of its position, and that of its players, as a representative of the city of Leicester, the Premier League, the Football Association and the club’s supporters”.
It added, Leicester City is “committed to promoting a positive message of community and family values and equality” and “to upholding the standards expected of a club with its history, tradition and aspirations.”
Bizarre Behaviour
The team’s glorious end to the season and avoiding relegation seemed to have saved Pearson’s manager position following a difficult campaign on and off the pitch for the boss.
Twenty-two points from the last nine games preserved premier league status and seemed to indemnify Pearson against earlier controversies that had threatened his job.
Pearson’s side slipped to the bottom of the table at the same time as his own behaviour became increasingly bizarre including a heated, public spat with a Foxes’ fan, followed by his throttling of a Crystal Palace player on the sideline during a match, and an infamous description of a journalist as “an ostrich” after a defeat by Chelsea.
The relationship between manager and owners had strained and deteriorated but the sex-tape of Foxes players proved to be the last straw.
Former Leicester striker Steve Claridge remarked: “It’s difficult to convince people this is for footballing reasons – he’s never been as strong has he?
“Two or three occasions last season the owners would have been more than justified. We then lauded the fact that they stuck by their manager.
“The statement doesn’t refer to the fact he was sacked for footballing reasons.”
Speculation has begun about who will succeed Pearson and several big names including the Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill have already been linked.
O’Neill is loved by Leicester fans, having taken them to the premier league and two League Cup wins during a previous spell at the Midlands club.
A more likely candidate is Neil Lennon – O’Neill’s captain at Leicester during the glory years, and now manager at Bolton, having proved his credentials at Celtic, most memorably with a win over Barcelona in the Champions League.
Other names linked include Sam Allardyce, David Moyes and current Foxes player-of-year Esteban Cambiasso.
