A horse to look out for at Ayr on Saturday is Saveiro from the Alan Swinbank yard. This seven-year-old dual bumper winner had shown decent form in both hurdles and fences a couple of seasons ago and returned from a lengthy sabbatical when landing a 2m handicap at Wetherby. Saveiro was strongly fancied to follow up seven days later at Catterick but appeared to dislike the tight track and Ayr’s galloping course should be to his advantage. Saveiro holds entries in both the 4.00 2m Class 4 handicap chase and the 2m4f Class 3 handicap chase at 5.20. On Sunday there’s a fascinating tussle at Naas between two equine stars who unfortunately won’t make the Cheltenham festival on account of the going not being soft enough. Bog Warrior and Flemenstar are Ireland’s two highest-rated novice chasers and are set to face-off against each other in the Class 3 Naas Directors Plate Novice Chase. Bog Warrior thrashed Flemenstar the last time the pair met at Navan in November by seven and a half lengths and I fancy Tony Martin’s charge to repeat the dose.]]>
