The biggest draw on Sunday at Musslburgh is the hugely admirable Overturn who is a key contender for the Arkle come March. Having hardly misplaced a hoof in his two facile chase successes to date Donald McCains’ fellow has won more than half a million pounds in prize money for connections. The way he attacks his fences with relish is a joy to watch and whether he goes for the Scottish Arkle Novices Chase at 1.00 pm on Sunday or the Scottish Future Champions Chase an hour later, he is the weekend banker. Champion trainer Paul Nicholls horses are infrequent visitor’s to Scotland and Ranjaan making the trek North is a tip in itself. The rangy gelding is a half-brother to useful hurdler Rajamand and was an expensive purchase from Mikel Delzangles at 200,000 euros. Ranjaan is capable of consorting with quality opponents and should take all the beating in the John Smith’s Country Hurdle at 3.30.]]>
