Liverpool – Tottenham Match Preview

Liverpool – Tottenham Match Preview

Both teams come into this match after have played their local derby at the weekend, with Spurs winning convincingly against Arsenal and Liverpool drawing 0-0 away at Everton after a rather boring and uneventful match. Brendan Rodgers’ team have now gone 8 matches undefeated something that only 3 teams have managed to do for longer all season. They have found form in their new formation, and the returning Daniel Sturridge could prove a thorn in Tottenham’s side once again. Spurs have struggled to deal with him every time they face Liverpool and he will provide a genuine threat for the reds once again. Tottenham come into the game high on confidence, though, so this could be an exciting affair with both teams continuing to avoid defeat. Liverpool will have to do without Lucas though, with Joe Allen the most obvious like-for-like replacement. Another option could be to play Steven Gerrard in midfield, with Daniel Sturridge, who terrorised Tottenham at White Hart Lane earlier in the season, starting up front next to Sterling and Coutinho. Adam Lallana is still a minor doubt for this one, but should be passed fit. Spurs on the other-hand, have no injured players so there really aren’t any excuses, they have to win. Federico Fazio could return at centre-back, though Eric Dier did well at the weekend, while Ben Davies may come in for Danny Rose at left-back. Nacer Chadli could start on the left, with Christian Eriksen in a more central role.
