Fiorentina – Roma Europa League Match Preview 12/03/15
Fiorentina have been on a great run of form of late, even if their last match was a real wake-up call when they were defeated 4-0 by Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. Now they face the other team from Rome in an all-Italian Europa League last-16 clash. The last time these 2 teams met in a cup competition it was in the Coppa Italia and Fiorentina came out on top and they will be hoping for a similar result this time around too. Montella could decide to play Neto in goal once again, but he will likely make some changes such as Mario Gomez, Joaquin and Gonzalo Rodriguez who should all return. Roma, lost just that one game in their last 16 games, and although they possess real quality, it could well be the home team that come away with a narrow win here. With Ciprian Tatarusanu still in doubt, the team should be the same one that beat Feynoord in the last round. Rudi Garcia rested players at Chievo at the weekend and will have his big guns back here and we might even see Victor Ibarbo in this one as the striker is yet to feature for Roma.
Our Probable Formations:
Fiorentina (4.3.3) Neto, Tomovic, Rodriguez, Basanta, Pasqual, Aquilani, Pizarro, Fernandez. Joaquin, Gomez and Salah.
Roma (4.3.3) De Sanctis, Torosidis, Manolas, Yanga-Mbiwa, Holebas, Pjanic, De Rossi, Keita, Ljajic, Totti and Gervinho.
BetAdvisor Top Tips:
Fiorentina’s defeat against Lazio last weekend brought an end to an impressive 13 game unbeaten streak for the Viola.
A top football prediction would be that the Giallorossi would play for a draw, as Roma’s 0-0 draw against Chievo on Sunday was their 5th stalemate in 6 games, and was their 10th draw in their 14 matches of 2015.
A top betting pick would suggest an under 2.5 goal bet as Fiorentina have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 4 home matches against Roma in all competitions.
