Thirsk Racecourse
Thirsk Racecourse is a tight and slightly undulating left handed track. The circuit is about ten furlongs in circumference and has an extension attached to the home straight for five and six furlong races. The venue currently holds grade three status despite never having held a pattern race since 2003.
There use to be a time when you could make serious money betting on horses in a combination forecast/tricast for those that occupied the stalls closest to the near side rail in sprint races. Unfortunately the clerk of the course has addressed the issue but you will still find there is still some edge for those occupying a high draw when the ground is riding fast.
In races over route distance races (seven furlong to a mile) then those drawn low, or close enough to the far rail can benefit, again when the ground is riding quick.
Quite a few northern based trainers fare well, but here is my list of trainers below that I tend to focus on WHEN given specific circumstances.
Please note: Profit and Loss figures (P/L) is based on level stakes betting of one Euro per bet to SP.
