Southwell Racecourse
Southwell Racecourse is a flat, left handed All-Weather track. Its a dual purpose venue with both Flat and Jumps racing taking place at various times of the year. What is unique about this course is the fact its the only UK track that is run on Fibresand which is a different type of synthetic surface associated with other All weather courses.
First of all, the surface is much deeper, and places an emphasis on stamina, even in sprint races. Despite this, the ability to travel well within a race is a desirable trait as those often coming from behind have to negate getting any kickback in their face which can be off putting as one would imagine.
Horses who appear one pace on turf can often take to this surface and quite a few American bred horses have shown an aptitude for the surface, so going through their breeding profile can prove to be useful but remember to check the necessary statistics to see which Sire has a good record with their progeny on the surface.
Some trainers do seem to know what type of horses are required to win on this surface, some of which have a fibresand training surface in the yard which can obviously give them a good indicator which horses are likely to handle it when it really matters.
Here are just some of the trainer stats that may be of use in your quest for profitable winners.
