Curragh Racecourse
Curragh Racecourse is a galloping right handed track with a stiff uphill finish. The circuit is about two miles in length, horseshoe in shape and there are a variety of training facilities in and around the vicinity.
There is no doubt that this is Ireland’s premier Flat Racecourse with ten group one races each season with a further thirty pattern races in support.
Further below are some Trainer angles for your consideration.
Please note: Profit and Loss figures (P/L) is based on level stakes betting of one Euro per bet to SP.
Course: Curragh
Trainer: M Halford
Race Type: 3yo+ Handicap races.
Bets: 472 Wins: 48 Strike Rate: 10.17% P/L+66.50
Additional Notes; Despite the low win strike rate, a reasonable profit is still achieved because the yard’s winners tend to go off at attractive prices, which is not surprising when you consider how competitive the handicap races run at the track are in relation to most courses in Ireland.
Interestingly, to improve the win strike rate just focus on the stable’s runners that are aged between three to five, each specific age within this group have shown to be profitable, so combining them makes sense, and provides a wider pool of races to work with over the long term.
Course: Curragh
Trainer: W Mullins
Race Type: 3yo+ Handicap races.
Bets: 69 Wins: 12 Strike Rate: 17.39% P/L+34.62
Additional Notes; Willie Mullins is a trainer who is more associated with runners over jumps and arguably the number one trainer amongst his peers in that discipline. However, he is a very canny trainer and his runners should generally be noted when they appear in a handicap on the flat. It is best to concentrate on his runners contesting staying races, the further the better, anything from 14 furlongs and upwards, this will also improve the strike rate and in tandem, you will see an increase in the overall profit figure.
Course: Curragh
Trainer: J Bolger
Race Type: 3yo Handicap races.
Bets: 53 Wins: 10 Strike Rate: 18.87% P/L+24.00
Additional Notes; A master trainer of his craft, he usually strikes the right balance of strike rate and profitability at certain courses, here you will find he is best with his three year olds contesting handicap races for their own age group only. If you really want to improve on the above record then I suggest backing all his runners in the month May to June only. He has never recorded a winner so far from these specific type of races at this venue outside these months, saving you twenty one losing bets in the process.
