( votes)Bet Advisors Guide to Betting – EPL Managers Special
Jose Mourinho’s departure from Chelsea last week has sparked huge debate with football fans across the world as to his next destination. With Louis van Gaal struggling at Manchester United and Pep Guardiola edging ever closer it seems, to Manchester City, three of the Premier Leagues biggest clubs are locked in a managerial merry-go-round. Let’s now take a look at how the betting exchanges assess the current situation.
IS THE SPECIAL ONE THE REAL “ONE” FOR OLD TRAFFORD?
Maybe it’s just coincidence but the announcement by Jose Mourinho that he doesn’t intend to take a sabbatical for coaching, coupled with Louis van Gaal’s troubles at Manchester United has meant fans are putting two and two together and coming up with four. The “Special One” has been linked with the top job at Old Trafford in the past, but that was when Sir Alex Ferguson still presided over the kingdom and Mourinho himself, declared his undying love for Chelsea. After being sacked for the second (and probably) final time at Stamford Bridge, the path now looks clear for the Portuguese tactician to take over at the Premier League giants. If, as expected, van Gaal is dismissed in the very near future or at the end of the season, his current assistant and former playing legend Ryan Giggs will also have aspirations to take over the reins. A fans favourite, the former Welsh wing wizard is surely Mourinho’s closest challenger for the Old Trafford hot seat, with the rest just making up the numbers.
*Current odds for next Manchester United manager
Jose Mourinho 1.30
Ryan Giggs 5.00
Pep Guardiola 7.00
Antonio Conte 17.00
Gary Neville 34.00
GUARDIOLA HEADING FOR THE ETIHAD
Across the other side of the city, speculation is now growing that current Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola, after announcing at the weekend that he would be stepping down at the end of the current campaign, will be the next man in charge at Manchester City. Since the summer, the current holder of the post Manuel Pellegrini has had to fend off questions about his future with the former Barcelona legend clear favourite to replace him for 2016-17. Former Arsenal and Manchester City midfielder Patrick Viera, currently in charge of MLS side New York City FC, is also a contender to replace Pellegrini as is current Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone. Sevilla’sUnai Emery is also a name that has been linked to the post should it become vacant.
*Current odds for next Manchester City manager
Pep Guardiola 1.33
Patrick Viera 17.00
Diego Simeone 17.00
Unai Emery 26.00
HIDDINK – SHORT-TERM OR LONG HAUL AT CHELSEA
Back for a second spell as interim coach of Chelsea, Gus Hiddink now has the task of getting the club back into a respectable position in the Premier League table after their disastrous start to the season. Whether the former Dutch national team coach will stay on beyond the end of the current campaign is still open to debate, as a list of potential successor’s line up behind him. The best online sports betting sites currently list former striker Didier Drogba, as the favourite to take over next season followed by Hiddink, the recently dismissed Swansea City boss Garry Monk, former German international Jurgen Klinsmann and current Southampton coach Ronald Koeman. Another name linked with the job is Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew with Pep Guardiola further down the list.
*Current odds for next Chelsea manager
Didier Drogba 1.01
Gus Hiddink 1.06
Garry Monk 4.80
Jurgen Klinsmann 4.80
Ronald Koeman 4.80
Alan Pardew 25.00
Pep Guardiola 52.00
