( votes)Stunning Serena Over on the WTA side of the draw and it was business as usual for Serena Williams, who claimed another title in what has been a silverware-laden season with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Simona Halep in Cincinnati. It was the second successive tournament win in Cincinnati for Williams, and an incredible 69th singles title of her career. “Thanks to Simona for playing such a great match,” Williams said after the final. “I don’t get great support everywhere I play, but I get so much love here I want to keep coming back.” The youngest of the Williams sisters will now have her eyes set on a seventh US Open crown, and having won the famous event at Flushing Meadows for the past three years running it would take a brave punter to bet against her making it four in a row. Her odds of 2.00 are quite prohibitive however, so instead back Halep each way at 13.00.
