Firstly thanks to all you guys for looking in here is Just a brief summary of Tuesdays racing at Royal Ascot, super race in the first with Canford Cliffs just getting the better of the French challenger Goldikova, thought for a few strides that Cityscape was going to prove me right and turn them both over but he just looked to flatten out near the finish. bit of a shock that Olivier Pelier put up 2lbs over weight because he changed his boots after weighing out, that would have brought the mare much closer to Canford Cliffs,
The 2nd race saw a return to form of the well backed Prohibit who put all the International challengers behind him.
Frankel was brilliant, the change of pace mid race was electric and then the guy who staked £150,000 to win £50,000 was made to sweat as he idled in front.
If you read carefully what I put yesterday, I got the Coventry stakes just right with a nice combination Exacta paying £47.80 and a place Lay of Mezmaar who should never have been that price,
Oh well, sods law as always, my only selection yesterday, La Estrella just run out of 4th place by the staying on Zigato who looks to need 3 miles……lol
The fav Frederick Engels confirmed his improvement from his last race and won quite emphatically.
So on to Wednesdays racing much more open races today with the exception of the Prince of Wales, so on to:
2.30 the first race which today is the jersey stakes, and as always is a pretty competitive affair if not as good on quality as it has been over the last few years. Strong Suit from the Richard Hannon stable seems to have lost his way a bit of late and is best watched until showing some kind of return to form, Fury looks a shocking price on anything he has achieved and is my first place lay of the day at around 1.97, Western Aristocrat is also a shocking price and not for me, he needs to improve 10lbs to take a hand in the finish, Oracle has had is sights set high and so far not attained them, even though he is gradually improving he may fare better later in the season or as a four year old, only two horses I can possibly see winning and they are the French challenger Havane Smoker who has been ridden poorly the last two times and with Christophe Soumillon taking over today we should see improvement but he will have all on to beat the rapidly improving Codemaster from the Henry Candy yard who seems to have everything in his favour today but the price is too short for me to give it out as a selection.
3.05 race The Windsor Forest is a fillies and mares race so not a betting medium for me because of the unreliable nature of the sex, if I were to be having a bet I would plump for the improving I’m a dreamer but my worry would be the slower ground.
3.45 The Prince of Wales has been the target of ex Australian So You Think since arriving over here, he has won both his warm up races with ease and can’t really think of a reason for him not to win but I never back at Odds On.
4.25 the Royal Hunt Cup this is my kind of race 30 runners spread right across the track with nowhere to hide, Start Right is not for me, he has the perfect team behind him in Fallon and Cumani but in such a hot race his form has too many holes in it to be fav, Dance and Dance has a good chance but too much weight for me, he will find this track totally different to Epsom where he won cosily last time and did all my subscribers a favour, Mont Agel is improving steadily but this is a big step up for him so he is overlooked, I have narrowed it down to just four runners but sorry you need to subscribe to find out what they are.
5.00 is another fillies race and again not a betting race for me because they are generally so unreliable, Shoomoos’s form was given a big boost by Frederick Engels yesterday but a lot of today’s other runners could improve markedly on what they have done so far and to take such a short price is not for me, if I were to be having a bet it would be a small bet place bet on Vocational and Dozy both looked as if they had plenty of scope and more to give.
The last race of the day today, the 5.35 is an open looking contest but again it is just for fillies and not my favourite type of betting race, lots of fillies that might show a bit more, the best form in the race is Cape Dollars form when beating Cochabamba at Newbury but she took a few races last season to get to that form and is doing so again this season, if she came back to her best she would win and is a big price at around 16, the other fillies have run well or won fairly moderate races in comparison and I am going to make an exception to my rule and have a half stake bet on Cape Dollar but I wouldn’t give it out as a selection to anyone solely because I don’t like four legged female horses.
