“These two sides are flying high in League One, both with ambitions of promotion this season. Gillingham look likely to take one of the automatic places, if they can continue their fine work from the first half of the season which has placed them second in the table. Wigan had a poor start to the campaign but recovered well and now look like they can achieve their goal of promotion to the Championship at the first time of asking. Wigan drew 1-1 away at midtable Scunthorpe last time out, while the Gills hammered Bradford 3-0 at home to make it four wins on the run. The head to head record shows these two sides as level heading into their Thursday night match-up. From their eighteen games both teams have recorded eight wins a piece leaving just two stalemates. This game more than often produces a winner and that was the case when they last met back in August when Gillingham ran out 2-0 victors. A Dack double earned the Gills their home win, which made it two wins on the run against Wigan. Wigan have really turned their season around and now look set to make the play-offs at least, but this weekend they welcome a side having an even better season who with a win will be looking to go top of League One. Gillingham are just one point of Burton who top the table, but four wins in their last four league games puts the Gills amongst the divisions most in form teams. Anyway Wigan is really strong at home and got the opportunity to close the gap with opponents and I think they will be very motivated to win this one.I expect a close encounter with hosts winning 1-0!”
