Who Will Win The NFC East?

It might be the NFL’s worst division, but the NFC East is also its most competitive, with every team involved but the Dallas Cowboys having a chance to qualify for the playoffs still. However, only one of the NFC East’s four teams will host a first round playoff game as a division champion, so who will it be? Let’s break down the three NFC East title contenders.

Washington Redskins

Leading the NFC East currently are Washington, who manage to look to dominant at times while looking completely inept at others. Kirk Cousins has been solid at quarterback in the place of failed first round draft pick Robert Griffin III, and his stable of weapons is strong thanks to DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, and Jordan Reed to name a few.

Defensively, Washington is one of the best teams in the NFL at controlling the line of scrimmage when they are in form. Even their defensive backs have stepped up in recent weeks and have made quick work of the New York Giants and Chicago Bears in order to remain in the lead in this crowded division.

Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia has had such a weird season, in that they should be winning games at a better rate than they are now, but still have a chance to make the playoffs despite disagreements between players, coaches, and ownership. If the Eagles can survive all of that drama and make the playoffs, their talent may be able to carry them to a championship.

Sam Bradford has been playing well as of late, limiting turnovers in a way he was unable to do earlier in the campaign. This has allowed the Eagles to be one of the more efficient offenses in the NFL over the last few weeks, which has kept them alive in this strange playoff race. With their ability to put up points in a hurry, there’s no counting them out.

New York Giants

Here’s the thing with the New York Giants: they don’t look very good or dangerous, yet that’s when they tend to go on head scratching runs and win Super Bowls, so that doesn’t mean much at all. They have the best young wide receiver in the NFL in Odell Beckham Jr., who is receiving passes from Eli Manning, who is playing some of the best football of his career right now.

The issue for the Giants is going to be their defense, one that really hasn’t had a terrific game against a quality opponent yet. New York’s defense has managed to lose a game this season in which their offense scored 49 points, and you truly can’t trust this defense to win the NFC East championship.

In all, Philadelphia doesn’t have the tiebreaker to look forward to, but they should be considered the favorites to win the NFC East thanks to all the talent they have on offense. Washington, meanwhile, need to figure out what they are doing with Kirk Cousins and the quarterback position going forward whether they win the division or not.
